This 80-hour practicum is designed to give students professional practice experience in an assigned health information management department or related healthcare setting. Students will apply theory, principles and knowledge acquired in previous coursework re: provide participation in data retention; retrieval; storage assembly; deficiency analysis; physician communication and release of information following applicable laws, regulations and facility guidelines. Direct supervision is provided by the clinical professional. Prerequisites: HLIM100M, AHLT110M, BIOL106M or BIOL110M, HLIM 208M or HLIM210M, MCOD100M, MCOD110M.
