HIST120M: Western Civilization to 1500

The course surveys the development of civilization in the western world from circa 3000 BCE to circa 1500 CE. This course will focus on the complex interactions of the social, religious, economic, ecological, and political factors that contributed to development of the Near Eastern, Mediterranean, and European cultures. This course will emphasize history as the record of human struggle and achievement and will explore patterns of change and continuity over time.
