HUMA207M: The Female Body

The Female Body dives into US American representations of women's bodies through two lenses: The perspective of entities who seek to control perceptions of and potentially oppress women, and the perspective of those women who protest, push-back, and shatter those oppressive expectations. We will explore topics such as bodily autonomy, oppression, rebellion, rhetoric, history, and art. As a Humanities course, we will investigate contextualizing history through readings, art in various mediums, and historical analysis.  We will dive into women and medicine, women in the workforce, the Equal Rights Movement, and women’s bodies in the Classics through various historical context lenses.
