Course Description
ADMT112M - Introduction to Engineering Design and Solid Modeling This problem based learning course covers the knowledge and skills needed to explore the engineering design process. Individual projects, team projects and laboratory exercises will be used to continually hone the student’s interpersonal skills, creative abilities and understanding of the design process. Everyday products will be examined for historical, societal, design, safety, and manufacturing perspectives. Topics include ideation, sketching, design constraints, solid modeling, decision making, statistical quality control, manufacturing methods, and engineering analysis. Students will develop an appreciation for good design and the ability to communicate design ideas via 3D modelling, written and oral reports. There are lectures, demonstrations, and a series of lab exercises designed to reinforce what the student has learned. This course uses the latest version of the Solidworks design software.
