HUMA106M - History of American Popular Music This course provides a historical overview of American popular music, from the mid 19th Century to the turn of the 21st Century. Styles of music that are studied are: Folk music, Jazz, Ragtime, Blues, Swing, show music, motion picture music, Country, Rock &Roll, Soul, Heavy Metal, Pop, Grunge, Rap and Latin /African music. Students will be required to listen to music associated with these styles.

WELD186M - Blueprint Reading for Welders This course is an introduction to print reading. It covers the different types of lines, dimensions, and notes used to make sketches and prints. The various types of views and their relationship to each other, the welding symbols, and inspection and testing symbols for all welding processes. Students will develop a practical understanding of the blueprint reading knowledge required by the welding industry for employment. Prerequisites: Weld 180M or Weld 111M and Weld 113M or permission of instructor.

The topics include linear, area, and solid measures involving US and SI units, solutions of linear equations, proportional relationships, congruent and similar figures, properties of polygons, circles, and ellipses. SPCL105M - SPCL: Workplace Safety OSHA 10 General Industry This course provides students with an introduction to workplace health and safety standards through the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry. Topics include workplace safety principles, employee rights, and common hazard prevention, with an emphasis on recognizing risks and applying safe work practices. Successful completion of the course requirements qualifies students to receive the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry card. Objectives: 1. Identify the rights of workers and the responsibilities of employers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. 2. Recognize common workplace hazards in general industry. 3. Exhibit knowledge of hazardous communications and hierarchy of controls. 4. Apply appropriate safety practices, including the selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE). 5.
